About SNAP
The Student Neighborhood Access Program (SNAP)™ provides tools and resources to assist in the planning, education and encouragement of students walking and biking safely to school. SNAP works in partnership with state Safe Routes to School coordinators. By helping administrators create a plan and provide a map of the safest walking and biking routes to school, SNAP works to increase the safety and health benefits to students, as well as decrease air pollution and traffic congestion around schools.
Through state Safe Routes to School coordinator, SNAP provides additional resources including a planning guide, communication tool kit, curriculum aids and SNAP logoed items to help schools promote this important safety program. For ideas on helping encourage students to walk and bike safely to school, visit the national Safe Routes to School Web site at www.saferoutesinfo.org or contact your state Safe Routes to School coordinator.
